Learners at all levels of experience attend my cold wax painting workshops. There are folks who have never painted with oils and folks who have never painted at all. There is usually at least one returning student who uses the class to review techniques and explore some new ideas.
Each time I teach a could wax painting workshop I also learn something new.
One the most alluring qualities of cold wax is its versatility. It gives us the sense that there are few limitations in the ways in which we can use the medium, and so encourages experimentation. At some point in every workshop a learner will say, “what will happen if I do this?” Almost always my answer is: “let’s try it.”
